Nothing says Christmas quite like lights on your house, and now more and more people are turning to the professionals to get the job done.
But what would Christmas be without Christmas lights? Trophy Club resident Chuck Kelly knows what that is like.
"46 years old, and been a homeowner for a long time, I've never had lights,” said Kelly.
But that has all changed this year, as Kelly finally got lights on his home. Plus, he didn’t have to do a thing.
"You don't want me on a roof ever,” Kelly told CW 33 News. "I didn't want to hurt anybody. I mean, I don't have the ability to get on a roof and do the things that professionals do."
Those professionals he hired were Cutting Edge Christmas Lighting. For about $2,500 for the average home, they'll buy the lights, put them up and after Christmas, take them back down.
"We want them to give us a call and say, 'Hey, we need lights up, we need the whole thing taken care of,” said Daniel Nawar, owner of Cutting Edge Christmas Lighting.
Nawar said it's good to be in the booming bulb business.
"Business has been actually pretty spectacular. We've noticed quite a bit of increase from last year, definitely,” said Nawar.
The hardest part for homeowners was deciding what they wanted.
"We drove around Trophy Club and Southlake over and over to say, 'Oh, that's good,' 'Nah, I don't like that,' 'OK that's good.' It just went back and forth,” said Kelly. "Finally we decided red and white, Christmasy, we're going to do that."
It was a traditional choice, and hopefully something special for the Kelly's nearly 2-year-old son.
"Just to see his expression. just to see his eyes light up and see those lights, and we got the twinkly kind, and he always goes, 'Wow.' We want to see wow from Kalen,” said Kelly.
For Kelly, the 46-year-old homeowner who has never had a house lit up, it was well worth the cost.
"We'd say, 'One day, one day, that's going to be us.' Well, today is that day,” he said.
Nawar said he goes through 100,000 feet of C9 wire and millions of mini lights every year.
