Olympic-size gift to Calif. food bank

Kellogg Co. donated thousands of boxes of cereal with Michael Phelps' picture on them to the San Francisco Food Bank. Kellogg declined last month to renew its endorsement deal with the Olympic swimming star and Baltimore resident after a photo surfaced showing him smoking from a marijuana pipe. Kellogg officials responded to questions from the Associated Press with an e-mail saying the company routinely donates food that is nearing the end of its shelf life but still good.

Skiing: Lindsey Vonn captured the women's overall title for the second straight year by winning the last downhill of the season at the World Cup finals in Are, Sweden. The American completed the 1.6-mile Olympia course in 1 minute, 42.49 seconds. Vonn become the first U.S. woman to capture two World Cup overall titles.

College basketball: Boston University fired Dennis Wolff after 15 seasons as men's coach, four days after the team was upset by UMBC, 79-75, in overtime in the first round of the America East tournament. BU went 17-13.

Soccer: Heather Mitts hit a post with her seventh-round shot and Sweden beat the United States, 4-3, on penalty kicks in Faro, Portugal, after a 1-1 tie in the final of the Algarve Cup. ... The home of the expansion Seattle Sounders, Qwest Field, was chosen by Major League Soccer to host this year's MLS Cup on Nov.22.
