FORT WORTH -
Billionaire investor Warren Buffett is buying Fort Worth-based Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad.
Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway is paying $26 billion for the 77% of BNSF it does not already own. It's Buffett's largets transaction ever.
"It's an all-in wager on the economic future of the United States," Buffett said in a statement released by BNSF. "I love these bets."
BNSF headquarters will remain in Fort Worth. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2010.
