Azle schools closed Monday; boil water notice still in effect

A broken water main this weekend in Azle has led to a day off from school today.

The Azle ISD posted this notice on its Web site:

"As of 6:00 AM, the city of Azle could not guarantee water at all of our schools. School will be closed today for all Azle schools."

After closing several valves and containing a leak Saturday night, city workers were unable to shut down a valve that broke in the open position. As a result, the city issued this Water Main Break - Boil Water Notice at 5:30 a.m. this morning:

"The break in the line has been repaired and we are working on restoring pressure at this time. Today, city crews will begin flushing all 93 miles of lines to get the chlorine levels up, so the boil water notice remains in effect. We request that everyone continue to conserve as much as possible. Additional updates will be posted as they become available."
