Contaminated Water in Denton County causing damage
DENTON COUNTY, TEXAS - Everything from rusted silverware to ruined laundry... Melissa Robinette says she's fed up with the contaminated water in her Denton County neighborhood, especially with a five month old baby in the house.

She says, "I send the nice baby sheets and bedding for her room to my parents house to wash because I don't want them to be ruined."

The clothes comes out blotchy. Robinette says, "a lot of money already going down the drain." Homeowners in the Artesia Subdivision have been boiling water after notices went out beginning last September.

Residents get their tap water from wells which requires more filtration to remove harmful sediments. Denton County Fresh Water District 10 plans to route water to a different source as a short term solution and over the next year proposes building a free standing water tower with better filtration. but with hot days ahead homeowners want a solution now.

Homeowner Pamela Walpole says, "They just keep saying it's going to be corrected and we haven't really seen much of that."

The water district didn't go on camera but says it'll continue testing the water and plans to get rid of the wells altogether.

Walpole says, "We have had ac problems air conditioning in fact they're coming out today we've got a drainage issue water's pouring out of the side and they say it's been rusting our pipes."

And the outside is turning white. Washing machines and garbage disposals are also going out due to corrosion. And while no one's gotten sick Robinette and others won't risk drinking a glass of tap water. Robinette says, "They said it's safe to drink now but you don't want to drink it."

They're sticking to bottled water instead.
