The best way to describe the last day of State Fair of Texas is long lines! It's as if everyone woke up this morning, said hey nice weather, no Cowboys game today, we haven't been to the fair yet, let's go!

Elbow to elbow, bumper to bumper, State Fair visitor Scott Chandler finally gets through with his Fletcher's corn dogs.

He said the problem he has with the crowd is his wife's fault!!

Scott Chandler joked, "She said it was not going to be many people out here. It's the last day of the fair, and hey, she was RIGHT!" Scott's wife, Jennifer Chandler, said, "Only one of the few times I'm wrong. But I was wrong."

Mrs. Chandler forgot about the fair's 14 Days of rain! With the return of the warm sun, coupon sales for food and rides soar.

Saturday's sales set a new state fair record. Fairgoers spend 3.4 million dollars on coupons in one day topping the previous record of 2.8 million. And crowds on this final day are determined to do it all! Spend, ride, and eat: No matter the cost!

Rachel Drye is standing in line with Michael Harper at the Fletcher's Corndog stand. Rachel said, "We're vegetarians and we're getting the corn dogs so it's worth it." Harper said, "Don't tell any of our friends, that would be awkward."

The two have 20 minutes in line to think about it. And that's not as long for the line to ride the Texas Star!!! That one is about a 30 minute wait.

One of the longest lines at the fair is for the fried butter.

Deb Fabian, State Fair Visitor, said "Gotta do what everybody else is doing. Got to try it."

Finally, after waiting 20 minutes, Deb's ultimate fair experience is in reach.

Deb said, "It's like a warm donut with butter in it. It's good."

"Was it worth the wait?"

"NO...must say it really wasn't."

Others have a very different opinion, the fried butter is a huge hit . Not so huge is overall coupon sales for food and rides this year. Sales for all 24 days of the fair are down 10 percent this year from last year.
