As night fell on North Texas Saturday, dark clouds gathered, the wind picked up speed and it began to snow as I talked to Aaron Norman in Plano. He wasn't happy to see it come down, stating emphatically, "I don't want it to snow. I had 12 inches of snow, what like two weeks ago? I don't want anymore. I want heat. Summer!"

Lindsey Byers agrees. She spent her 30-40 degree afternoon smiling because, "I'm getting married in 5 weeks. There is a lot to be cheerful about." But while others walked around the Dallas Arboretum in earmuffs, mittens and blankets, Byers bared more than what must have been comfortable, in her quest for picture-perfect bridal photos.

In some of them she wore not only her sleeveless wedding dress, but her roommate's winter coat. Lindsey Byers called it "Crazy. It was beautiful all week long. Then, all of a sudden the cold front comes in. It's freezing."

That is the overnight concern at the Aboretum, where tulips closed up shop early in today's temps. Just after it closed at 5:00pm, staff started covering the more tender plants, including tropicals, spring annuals like begonias and plants recently out of the greenhouse.

Arboretum Horticulturist Jennifer Wang says, It's an inconvenience definitely and it does worry us because there is that chance of snow. We do have a large investment of geraniums and things that we have put out in the pots and beds that could just completely be gone tomorrow. You never know."

The Dallas Arboretum had its busiest day of the year yesterday. But today, attendance was down. Some of the 90 artists taking part in ArtScape, a fine art show-and sale, had to put away pieces because of the moisture.

Guest opinions differed on whether they were "over" the winter or now on this first day of spring, still unofficially loving it.

Sachse resident Barbara Smith said, "I hate it. We've had enough of this cold winter." Dallas resident Scott Smith (no relation) said, "I've actually enjoyed it this year with all the snow. I mean, I like the cold weather and it doesn't really bother me. One more weekend is okay." But Scott's brother, John Smith, also of Dallas, took Barbara's side, saying, "I'm ready for it to be over with."

But not so fast, weather experts say. Don't put away the long underwear just yet, but do stay here on the33tv.com for the spring/ winter forecast!
