CORINTH, TX -
The regulars call him "The Blake." His boss calls him the most loyal employee he's ever seen.
For the rest of the people in the small town of Corinth, Texas, he's a fast food rock star.
His voice booms from the drive up box, "Welcome to Jack-in-the-Box in Corinth, Texas. My name is Blake. What would you like to eat tonight?"
He quickly snaps open a bag to fill a fast food order as he continues to ring up the next. "What's going on Blake? Let me get that number eight with cheese," one of the regulars yells into the box.
Customer Tyler Mackey says, "I think he's frickin' awesome, man; it's fun. I hang out out here; I get my food and sit out here and talk to him for about 15 minutes. He's a hoot."
Another customer says simply, "He brightens up your night."
Blake Cartwright really takes customer service to a whole new level, tells stories, and makes you feel like you are the most important person in the world.
"I gave people my cell phone number so they can text me their order. If they're in a hurry or late for work in the morning, I'll have it ready for them. They skip the speaker, hit the window, boom they're gone," Blake says.
Blake usually works the graveyard shift and fans actually plan fast food runs around his schedule. Regular Blake Bond says, "He hands off his work schedule and he pretty much doesn't ever miss, so you know when he's going to be here."
Blake says he hasn't missed a day of work in eight years. Well, he did miss one day, but that didn't really count.
"I've only called in sick one time because my cat attacked me because she was having babies. But, I got a doctor's note," Blake said.
And, if that doesn't convince you of his loyalty, just look at his right arm. It's the arm he uses to hand off the fast food. He has a tattoo of Jack. Yes, the Jack-In-The-Box guy.
His boss says people come from everywhere to see him and his tattoo. "I'm really amazed. He's got fans all over the world," Rabi Viswanath, the Jack-In-The-Box franchisee, said.
"Italy, Japan, India, Iraq and at least 20 countries I know of, " Blake said.
Plus, every customer gets a signed receipt. A little momento from the fast food king of Corinth.
"I don't want to be famous. I just want to be known, ya know, that I make everybody smile."
By the way, Blake's favorite menu item is the tacos with Ranch.
