Millions of trees are cut down each year just to put grocery flyers in your local newspaper. Market Street, well known for its gourmet to everyday grocery stores, is going to be putting an end to that. Eliminating their flyers from newspapers across North Texas will save over 1000 trees per year.

On the surface, it would seem like this would be disastrous to a local grocery store. Robert Bollinger, Store Director, says this is not the case, and its direct mail and online tools that will make the difference. "We actually feel like there will be more penetration because the people getting our ads will be people who truly want and were asking for our ads"

Social networking, email and texts will be the answer, according to Courtney Tolbert, Regional Marketing Manager. "We have a special group that does our tweets for us and what you can find on our Twitter and Facebook sites are our weekly ads we actually have those on there. It might be a free loaf of bread or a free slice of pizza today between four and six. You just never know what it's going to be. That's why you want to opt in for those text messaging options as well as the email lists and other things".

Signing up is simple. Each Market Street location has an information booth with a computer terminal. You just fill out your information and you're all set.

Paper-free advertising is the way of the future, but most grocery stores continue to produce millions of flyers each year. So the next time you're at your favorite store, ask them to go paper-less. And go green!
