DALLAS -
You work so hard to look fabulous, but the second you step out under this hot, Texas summer heat, you start to get oily and greasy and sweat everything off.
Well, we're going to give you some melt-proof makeup tips.
Makeup artist Starley Murray says, "Have you ever noticed that throughout the day, especially on a hot day, your makeup seems to disappear?"
And Joanna Murrieta says, "It's just a never ending cycle during the summer of how do I keep my makeup on."
Murray says the first reason your makeup disappears is your skin is absorbing your foundation! So prep it the night before. Starley recommends Pro X.
And when choosing your foundation, stay away from talc-based pressed compacts! Starley says, "Mineral-based is going to breathe with the skin, where talc-based may actually separate." And Joanna says, "I really like it; I feel like my skin is glowing and natural, and it's just enhancing my look."
And tinted versions can be used for cheeks and eyes, too! Starley says go with softer colors to prevent separation. And eye liner, especially pencil, has a tendency to roll down your face the moment you sweat, so prime it before you apply it.
Starley says, "You can actually use an eye shadow base to set your eye liner as well; it helps to grab to product and hold it to the skin better."
And we've all sweated through our powder, and need to reapply to keep away the shine, right? Wrong! Blot instead, or spray an aloe mist, to reset makeup and refresh your flushed face.
Joanna says, "I can just tell it's going to last me throughout the day and I'm not going to have to worry so much about touching up and it melting away." Now you're set for the scorching summer days.
