Hung Pham considers himself an everyday, normal guy. And today, just for today, also a hero. About 7:15am, he chased and caught a 17 year old female driver he says didn't stop after hitting another 17 year old girl crossing the street near Sam Houston High School. Pham says, "I can't let them run."
Police say it happened near Carla Avenue.
Pham chased the driver a few blocks to the intersection of Arkansas Lane and New York Avenue.
There, he says he blocked her car with his and made sure it wouldn't move.
Pham says, "I just crawled in the car and turned off the engine, and motor, and I take off her key and hold it in my hand."
Police say while they don't generally encourage people stepping into what could be a criminal case, in this case, because the man didn't put himself in any danger, they appreciate his help.
Hung Pham is happy, too, saying, "I feel good about it."
