DUNCANVILLE -
Charges have been upgraded to murder for a 22 year-old DeSoto man that caused a fatal motor vehicle accident in Cedar Hill on Thursday, February 4.
The suspect, Tyrone Lee Sims II, was initially charged with evading arrest and detention. However, those charges have been upgraded because while in the act of committing a felony, Sims caused the death of another person, which increases the severity of the crime.
Sims is accused of hitting and killing a 21 year-old DeSoto woman after being stopped by a Duncanville police officer on a routine traffic stop. Sims and the victim were both heading South on Duncanville Road when Sims passed another vehicle and hit the victim while she was turning East on Wintergreen Road.
