Everyone who has dated online knows it can be time consuming: browsing profiles, waiting on emails, chatting... Entrepreneur Dave Wilkie says, on average, it takes online daters 2-3 weeks to finally meet someone in person.

That's why he decided to create a tool that speeds things up. It's called Weopia: a 3-D dating world where daters get to know each other by playing games and quizzes and talking to each other live.

It's an innovative tool for the online dating world that seems promising. A Harvard study reveals virtual daters are twice as likely to meet in real life.

Wilkie says going on a virtual date is less intimidating and takes less time. After meeting an interesting person at an online dating site, users invite each other Weopia to get to know each other on a different level. Both persons create an avatar and explore Weopia and each other. "If you do meet somebody in the virtual world you experience the person," Wilkie said.

Emotions, experiences, and personal characteristics can be hard to detect in emails or chats, but are likely to come out in virtual games and quizzes. "By experiencing things, by flying together, or wandering around, discovering things. The experience is something that brings through things like compatability, sense of humor, and joking around," Wilkie said.

Want to go a step further? No problem. "We have in the works dancing and kissing, hugging and holding hands," Wilkie said.

Another added bonus: It's safe. There's no need to leave your house, and there's no awkward first encounter. "You don't have to finish a 2-hour dinner," Wilkie said. At Weopia, you just reject with one mouse click.

The new, one-of-a-kind dating tool is still expanding, but it's not free. A 1-day pass to Weopia is $4.95, or subscribe for $18.95 a month.
