EVERYWHERE - January is usually the time to stock up on winter basics for incredible prices. But this year, retailers ordered less merchandise and put what was left after the holidays on sale immediately.

But savvy shoppers know the best sales aren't in stores at all, they're online. Alisha Woodall says, "You don't have the crowds, you get to look at exactly what you want to look at, so it's very specified, and it saves you time." Alisha's latest purchase? A black, Michael Kors top, she says it was, "At least $80 and I got it for $20, so it was a great discount." And Haley Ferguson just purchased a super cute clutch and says, "I saw that it was once $120 at Banana Republic but it was marked down to 19.99. So I bought 4 of them for a total of $80, which is less than the price of one clutch."

These two ladies scour all the online shopping site, like Rue La La and Gilt Group, but one in particular, is a favorite because of convenience. Alisha says, " You set it up once, you select the sizes that you want and the brands that you care to see, you pick how often you want to hear from them, it takes about 90 seconds to see about 6 websites worth of information.

"Instead of you hunting through racks for discounted merchandise, the sales come straight to you.... as an email that pops up in your inbox.... And boy does it make it tough to be productive at work! Most merchandise comes directly from a warehouse, so unlike store clothes they haven't been tried on over and over again. And because they come from retailers all over the world, it means no one else will be wearing your look, or know how cheap you got it!
