SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS - Destination Health is not your ordinary doctors office; and that's exactly what Chic Dickey was looking for.

He was tired of crammed waiting rooms and quick appointments with harried doctors, so today he shells out $5,000 a year to have personalized, around the clock access to Dr. Robin Hall.

"The most I ever see in a day is ten. Dr. Hall says. "Whereas in the previous practice, it would be anywhere from 20 to 30 patients a day."

Doctor Hall opened her practice three years ago with a patient cap of 250, she's not there yet but despite a terrible economy, she says business is holding steady.

"I have lost a few patients from the recession because some of the people have lost their jobs, but I have not gone backward because I have continued to get new patients in that have taken up their space."

Chic signed up about a year ago. Like many people, the economy forced his family to look for ways to save money, but chic considers his health a good investment.

"We've done away with other things and opted to stay with doctor hall and stay with this program because we feel it's really worth the money."

Chic's plan includes all office visits, a comprehensive all day health assessment including a visit with a dietitian and life coach. Dr. Hall says that alone is worth nearly four thousand dollars. Critics say concierge practices are elitest and contribute to the doctor shortage by drawing physicians away from family practices. Dr. Hall says that's not true.

"I don't buy the whole argument that we are pulling away because there is not ever going to be that many concierge practices."

As for Chic, simply being healthy is a bargain.

"You've got to sit down and prioritize things that are important."
