Fort Worth - Hundreds of dogs that had been seized from a Montague County puppy mill two weeks ago will not be available for adoption just yet.

On Friday a Justice of the Peace awarded animals to the Humane Society of North Texas, but there is some confusion about his ruling.

500 dogs that are in a temporary shelter just outside the Fort Worth Stock Yard are waiting for attorneys to fetch a legal clarification. The judge who awarded custody to the rescue organization, but added one foggy sentence.

"With the exception of all family pets. We have no idea what those animals are," says Sandy Grambort, the Equine and Livestock Program Coordinator at the Humane Society.

Until some differentiates between the forlorn face of a dog that lacks care, and what legally constitutes a family pet, it's sit, stay, for hundreds of "man's best friend."
