Today we're talking about getting hair free! Yes, all women can shave their legs, but to get your body ready for bathing suit season, you have to rid your body of unwanted bikini area hair. And I don't know ANY woman who enjoys a bikini wax... but it's a ecessary evil so we're bringing you some tips on how to make it as painless as possible.

Chandler Murphy owns W.O.W. "We Only Wax' a salon that takes a medical approach to hair removal. She takes cleanliness very seriously and all the waxing technicians wear scrubs, masks and maintian the highest level of sanitation. Candice and I had some questions about waxing, here is our Q and A:

Roni: How do you choose a 'waxing professional'?

Chandler: Do some research. Look at ratings online or ask a friend. Call the establishment first and ask all of the questions that are important to you...do not be embarrassed, it is your body. Ask the waxing professional about their credentials and why they are better than another choice. We Only Wax has only licensed aesticiantian that have completed the Texas requirements on the study of skin (not nails, or hair color) and know all the contraindications that may make waxing the wrong choice, how and what ingredients/medications may effect the skin. We Only Wax would rather turn away a client that put them at risk.

Candice: Does price indicate quality?

Chandler: The old phrase you get what you pay for an certainly apply here. The term speed waxing has become very popular and common. In this industry, time is money....do you really want some one that is on a deadline to do your service? There are many products in many price ranges....while some may take hair off, they may not provide the client the most comfortable experience. We Search for the best products available to do a great job, go easy on the skin and provide the most best experience for our clients.

Roni: What can go wrong if you go somewhere that isn't sanitary?!

Chandler: Yikes! There are places where double dipping a stick, recycling wax, and not wearing gloves are common practices. If you dip a stick in wax and apply to skin that may have even to onset of an STD to say the least, then dip the stick back in to warm wax...would you want that wax applied to you? Do not even get me started on some of the hygiene or lack there of I see daily.

Candice: What are the differences in waxes?

Chandler: Soft wax, is the wax that is put on and removed with a cloth such as muslin or pallon. Hard wax, is usually more expensive, but it require no strip to be removed. Sugar has been around a very long time. It is all natural and is pure enough to eat (but why someone would want to when they can get a great burger is over my head) Most of the text books present it as being very gentle on the skin...but most of the schools use the same text book that has been around more than 40 years. Wax have come so far in the last few years. Sugar is often marketed on the heals of horror stories about consequences of doubled dipping sticks...but keep your eyes open, double dipping a glove is just as risky.

Roni: What should you do before a wax?

Chandler: Do not shave! Let the hair grow to at least 1/4 inch....take a shower or bath.

Candice: If you get in grown hairs, what should you do to heal them?

Chandler: There are many good products on the market to help with in grown hairs and the prevention of in grown hair. Try to keep the skin in the area that is waxed exfoliated. We Only Wax offers a peel for the bikini area that works wonders. Unless you know what you are doing....be very careful about picking at them.
